Three Big Reasons Why Liberals Cannot Trust Any of the GOP Presidential Candidates

This year's Presidential election should be a highly entertaining affair. With Hillary going up against someone from the Republican Party, it should be a fairly interesting election. But no matter who gets the GOP bid, there are reasons why liberals can never get behind their cause. Here are those reasons.

In June, the Supreme Court ruled that laws banning gay marriage were illegal. Every single GOP candidate came out against that ruling. Some with subdued language, others fairly strong. But there wasn't a single candidate who was in support of the ruling.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said, "I agree with Justice - Chief Justice Roberts. As you know, that this is something that should be decided by the people and not by, I think he called them, five lawyers. I agree with that, I've said that before as to our Supreme Court. That this is something that shouldn't be decided by a group of lawyers, but should be decided by the people."

In a Washington Post-ABC News poll, six out of ten Americans support gay marriage and a similar amount believe that states should not have the right to define marriage as between a man and a woman. So which people are you really talking about here, Chris?

Two other Republican candidates shared similar views. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said, "This decision short-circuits the political process that has been underway on the state level for years. While I disagree with this decision, we live in a republic and must abide by the law. As we look ahead, it must be a priority of the next president to nominate judges and justices committed to applying the Constitution as written and originally understood."

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he is disappointed with the ruling and pledged to "appoint strict Constitutional conservatives who will apply the law as written."

You know how liberals read those statements? We are going to appoint judges that are more in line with our religious beliefs about homosexuality and pro-life decisions. Our religious beliefs will dominate policy.

Republican presidential candidate Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, an outspoken opponent of gay marriage, said in a lengthy statement that the decision "will pave the way for an all out assault against the religious freedom rights of Christians who disagree with this decision."

"The Supreme Court decision today conveniently and not surprisingly follows public opinion polls, and tramples on states' rights that were once protected by the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that," Jindal said.

The question must be asked - how does giving people equal rights to marry assault religious freedoms for Christians? Liberals don't think it affects them at all. Please, continue to do whatever you do in your religion and the rest of us will do whatever we do outside of it.

And what about those who do not believe in God? Are they not allowed to marry? Liberals believe they are. Please keep God out of governmental rights. That's where liberals believe GOP candidates to be scary. There is a real lack of separation in their church and state values. And let's be honest, religion really doesn't claim to be too accepting of alternative lifestyles.

This one may be even bigger than the first reason and is closely tied to the last reason later on. To liberals, GOP policy is to cut taxes for the wealthy and spend money on the military. It's a trickle-down policy, but what we see is not a lot of trickling. We see the rich hoarding all the money and the middle class stagnating.

As liberals, we're all for spending money to support the troops. But there should be a balance between military spending and spending on social programs for normal citizens. GOP history doesn't have those kinds of balances. It's a great paradox that liberals struggle with. Many GOP candidates are Christians, yet don't give a single iota about the struggling citizenry of this country, especially those in larger cities. Their policies favor the rich and work to increase the already ridiculous wealth gap that exists in this country.

The last Bush in the White House completely messed up the economy, with some help from the Clinton before him. The deregulation that took place under both their terms really hurt this country. Combined with the falsified war in Iraq and a cut to taxes that reduced the money coming in and those years set back the country for years to come. Any president of a party that moves the country's economy to the brink of failure has to be scrutinized and distrusted.

Under Obama, the economy has started to recover. It was epically close to a collapse and Obama did what he had to do to keep it afloat. He added onto the National Debt in the process, but he didn't get the country into that mess. He should be given a pass for doing what needed to be done to get us back to a level of confidence in the markets and banks. Job growth is also back on the rise.

Under Clinton, there was a surplus in the budget and the markets were healthy. The economy was booming, although there were policies that would hurt in the long run regarding Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and the housing market. That's mostly on Clinton. But for the most part, there was confidence in the economy and job growth during his terms.

Liberals really struggle on this one. The GOP continues to waste time trying to rescind this law, even though it exists for the good of the citizenry. It gives health care to those who need it most, those with conditions dire enough that they would not have gotten it previously.

Again, for a party that claims to want to help America, they sure have a funny way of showing it. That paradox again, the religious right who should be helping their fellow Americans appears to have the bottom line of the rich and private companies as their main concern and not the most needy of people.

One of the greatest moments for liberals from the past year was when Republican Senator Cathy McMorris Rodgers asked her constituents for feedback on Obamacare horror stories at her Facebook page (March 24th Post). It makes for an interesting read where 98% of the people commenting (over 2,800 comments) tell of stories how the ACA literally has saved their lives or given them access to affordable health care. Her response - to highlight the 2% of negative responses and claim that Obamacare needs to be repealed. What?!?!?!?!

The above example goes straight to the trust level of the GOP on the issue. We don't care that it works, we just want it repealed. But there is a general fear from liberals of what it might do to the economy if a GOP president and GOP Congress get to work together on Obamacare. The GOP continues to double-down on attacking the law though, even after the Supreme Court upheld it recently. Marco Rubio - I remain committed to repealing this bad law and replacing it...

Ted Cruz - Any candidate not willing to make 2016 a referendum on Repealing Obamacare should step aside

Jeb Bush - We need to repeal and replace Obamacare – empowering individuals to make their own health care decisions.

Mike Huckabee - The solution is for Congress to admit they screwed up, repeal the "nightmare of Obamacare& let states road-test real health care reforms.

Carly Fiorina - Repeal Obamacare and let the free market—not more crony capitalism—improve access and care for all Americans.

Another key question that keeps getting raised is - What's your solution then? There's a lot of rhetoric about repealing Obamacare, but not much in the way of solutions aside from going back to the way things were previously. Imagine what that is going to do to the economy. Again, going back to trusting the economy to the GOP - stranger danger!!!

The amount of delusion shown by the GOP is literally astounding. Between their views on Obamacare and their views on Global Warming, they continue to make a laughingstock of themselves in the public eye. How can liberals trust candidates that completely deny facts and science?

The truth is, they can't.

The GOP got George W. Bush into the White House. He was one of the worst presidents in history. Currently, the GOP candidates haven't done much to separate themselves from the same policies he used to nearly send this country into a death spiral. Bad economic policies, a complete lack of truthfulness with the public, and a general lack of knowledge on how to be president.

With the three reasons listed above, liberals all across the country will aim to support whoever the Democratic Party puts up for the nomination. It's looking like Hillary, which hasn't solved the honesty with the American public issue, but at least she can be trusted with the economy, Obamacare, and supports the rights of all the citizenry.
